I've Come To The Conclusion...
That everything really does happen for a reason. Whether that be a car accident, a break-up, or a drunken mistake. Shit happens and from that, you can do one of two things: live in that moment with all the regret that you have or swallow up the fact that it happened and learn from it and move on.
The latter would be best, although not the easiest.
